Spain by Numbers

How we make content

Last updated 7 October 2026

Sources first

Every guide starts from primary sources: the Spanish Official Gazette (BOE), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its consulates, the Tax Agency (AEAT), the National Statistics Institute (INE) and, for US and UK rules, the IRS and GOV.UK. Each guide lists its sources at the end, and the key figure at the top links to the exact law or table it comes from.

How we use AI

We use AI tools to help draft and structure guides. A person then checks every figure and claim against the sources listed on the page, removes anything that cannot be sourced and edits the text before it is published. We do not publish personal stories or reviews of things we have not done.

Calculators

The calculators apply the percentages written in the law to the official base amounts for the current year. They are tested against worked examples published by Spanish consulates before each update.

Keeping it current

We review the base figures every January, when the minimum wage, the IPREM and tax tables usually change, and whenever a new law is published. Each page shows the date it was last checked.

Corrections

If you find an error, write to hello@spainbynumbers.com with the page and the source that shows the right figure. We fix confirmed errors and update the date on the page.
